Our Hall

The Ballard IOOF Hall, at 1706 Northwest Market Street in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, was originally built in 1903 by Ola Woog, a Norwegian-American fisherman and carpenter. Handcrafted from local timber, with two meeting rooms and two commercial spaces, it was a fixture of the Ballard community from the time its doors first opened.

The Woog Building, as it was then known, was built as an income property, and rented out to local community organizations, public meetings, and private events of all kinds. Ballard Lodge #170 rented space in it as soon as it was built, and in 1923 the lodge purchased the building from Mr. Woog's heirs.

Since that time our hall has been the home of Odd Fellowship in Ballard. It also serves as home for many other fraternal lodge organizations, including local units of the Grange, the Royal Neighbors, the Daughters of Norway, the Omaha Woodmen, the Degree of Honor, and the Loyal Order of the Golden North.

Rentals

Our hall is available for regular and one-time rentals. We have an upper hall which can hold up to 200 people and a lower hall rated for 100, each with attached kitchen and dining room. On site parking is available during the evenings on weekdays and weekends..

Contact our caretaker for rental rates. (Weekday hours run from 08:00 am to 10:00 pm. Weekend hours run from 5 PM Friday evening through midnight Sunday.)

A special rate is available for chartered lodges of Federally recognized fraternal bodies; please contact the caretaker for more information.

We require a $300 damage and cleaning deposit. Please note that the deposit and rent must be paid in advance, and your event will not be considered to be reserved until full payment is received.

The building is nonsmoking in the entirety. Our hall is not normally available for parties, dances or weddings, and amplified music is allowed only by special arrangement. We prefer to rent to low-impact uses such as classes, workshops, seminars and meetings.
